XPSL 2008 Schedule: XPSL major 7-player events are three-day tournaments. Novice and Intermediate teams play their preliminary round on Friday. Rookie teams play their preliminary round on Saturday. The semifinal and final rounds for Rookie, Intermediate and Novice start Sunday morning. The Young Guns play Sunday at all of the five major tourneys. Captains' Meetings: All captains’ meetings will be held at 7am on the first day of the event for that division. Divisions: Major 7-player events separate Rookie, Intermediate, and Novice teams into different divisions. Nov teams play Nov, Int. play Int., Rke play Rke (see Player Classification), whenever possible. Team seeding within a bracket is based on overall circuit ranking, how many squads each team enters, and geographical relationships. Games: Depending on the number of entries and the size of the brackets, 7-player teams will play between seven and eight games in the opening round. Teams will qualify for the quarter final round in the following manner: The top two teams in each division of a two division quarter final round will qualify and play in the semi final round. Team positions at the end of a round of play are determined by total points earned by the teams in such round. After the quarterfinals, the 1st place team plays 4th place in a semifinal, while 2nd plays 3rd in a semifinal, both in best of three games 7 minute time limit. Then in the finals the winner of 1v4 plays the winner of 2v3 for 1st & 2nd place, while the losing teams compete for 3rd & 4th place in a best of three 7-minute time limit. Scoring: XPSL events use a 100-point-maximum per game scoring system. Accumulated points zero out between opening, semifinal and final rounds. (Refer to the Rules for more specific information about scoring, eliminations, flag pulls and hangs, etc.) Prizes: Novice prizes will be in product or certificates with the total retail value of 1st-4th at least $17,500. Intermediate prizes will be in product or certificates with the total retail value of 1st-4th at least $12,500. Rookie prizes will be in product or certificates with the total retail value of 1st-4th at least $10,000. Young Guns prizes will be in product or certificates with the total retail value of 1st-4th at least $1,875. Over $40,000 in prizes will be given away at each event. Refs: The XPSL employ’s professional refs that do not compete in the league. Affiliated Tourneys: Affiliated tournaments with the XPSL are independent events. However, the producers of affiliated events agree to use the same rules and scoring, the same basic format as XPSL major events, and require XPSL ID cards for all participants. Teams who attend affiliated events earn participation points toward the XPSL overall championships. Note: Do not send entry fees for affiliated events to the XPSL. Teams must contact the affiliated tournament producer for the schedule, prizes, entry fees, and format information (refer to the Schedule for minor/affiliated dates and contact phone numbers). Young Guns League: The format for Young Guns is 3-player teams playing four-minute games of center flag. Each team will play between 7 to 8 games. The top teams from the brackets then advance to the next round. Air fills are included in the entry fee. There is no paint limit for the Young Guns Division. (See the Registration Form for entry fees, classification, etc.) Rules: The XPSL will use modified NPPL rules for the 2007 season.
